Volkswagen Cross Up! was first introduced in 2013. In terms of dimensions, it is close to identical to the standard model, measuring 3563 mm (140.28 in.) - 3628 mm (142.83 in.) in length, 1649 mm (64.92 in.) in width, and 1516 mm (59.69 in.) in height. What differentiates it, however, is design details and higher ground clearance.
The whole Volkswagen Up! range achieves great fuel economy, one thing it is praised for by owners. The 1.0 TSI variants' consumption figures are also low - between 4.2 l/100 km (56 mpg) and 4.9 l/100 km (48 mpg).
Volkswagen Up! GTI is equipped with a 1.0-liter (999 cm3 | 60.96 cu. in.) 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine – the best-performing in the model range. It can produce an output of 115 Hp and 200 Nm of torque, accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds (0-60 mph: 8.4 seconds), and reach a top speed of 196 km/h (121.79 mph).
In 2019 Volkswagen e-Up! got an update and received a new battery, more energy, and better range. When the battery is drained, it can be charged to 80% in either about 1 hour, using direct current (DC), or in just over 4 hours, if using alternating current (AC).
With a maximum speed of 130 km/h (80.78 mph) and a range of 120-165 km (74.56-102.53 mi) for older variants and up to 260 km (161.56 mi) for the most recent 2019 facelift variants, Volkswagen e-Up! is suitable for both urban and extra urban driving. In terms of interior comfort, drivers find the front surprisingly spacious for such a small vehicle, but the backseat space - limited.
Despite being small in size and mainly used as a city car, Volkswagen Up! delivers enough speed and comfort to be used on a highway, so there’s no reason it shouldn’t be.
The majority of Volkswagen Up! owners find their vehicles well-performing, well-built, and reliable, reporting very few issues in owning and maintaining them. The only more serious common problem experienced has to do with the automatic transmission, the way it works, and the consequent poor acceleration of the car.
