In its first generation, Volkswagen Sharan was, indeed, only available as a 7-seater. Variants with 5 seats were added to the range in the following model years.
2015 model year Volkswagen Sharan, that is currently still in production, does have some considerable boot space. Drivers get 955 l (37.6 cu. ft.) or 300 l (11.81), which can be increased to 2423 l (95.67 cu. ft.) or 2297 l (90.43 cu. ft.), in 5-seat and 7-seat variants, respectively. This maximum space, however, is not the largest in the range, with first generation vehicles offering 2610 l (102.76 cu. ft.) of space, with the rear seats down.
