Volkswagen Arteon Shooting Brake is the station wagon version of the model. Despite the different body style and it offering more boot space, its dimensions are actually identical to the standard version - 4866 mm (191.57 in.) in length, 1871 mm (73.66 in.) in width, 1462 mm (57.56 in.) in height (for 2021 model year).
High performance Volkswagen Arteon R variants were introduced to the model range in 2020, offering more power and speed, compared to standard modifications. R variants are equipped with 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines, producing 320 Hp and 420 Nm of torque, enough to accelerate the vehicles from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds (0-60 mph: 4.7 seconds) and to a maximum speed of 270 km/h (167.77 mph).
Plug-in hybrid Volkswagen Arteon variants were introduced in 2020. Equipped with 2.0-liter petrol engines, combined with the hybrid technology, they can produce an output of 218 Hp and 400 Nm of torque.
Volkswagen Arteon generally performs quite well in terms of fuel efficiency, especially true for diesel variants. TDI options achieve fuel consumption of 4.1 – 5.9 l/100 km (57.37 – 39.87 mpg), while non-hybrid petrol alternatives’ consumption is 5.1 – 10.2 l/100 km (46.12 – 23.06 mpg). The range also offers plug-in hybrid options, that can bring fuel consumption down to 1.3 l/100 km (180.93 mpg).
Passat CC is the sportier coupe version of the Passat model, introduced by Volkswagen in 2008. The brand, however, positioned the Arteon above the Passat CC as a more upmarket option.
Owners’ reviews of the Volkswagen Arteon are largely positive. Drivers point out the various pros of owning an Arteon - the impressively large space that the vehicle offers, its good fuel efficiency, rich standard safety technologies kit, and the overall luxury feel of the model.
Despite Volkswagen Arteon owners giving good feedback in terms of the vehicle’s reliability, some common issues are also occasionally reported. However, these only include rear wheel bearing housing issues and insufficient torque at low speed and RPM.
