If one is looking for practicality and reliability in a vehicle, then yes, Toyota Camry is, indeed, a good car. It's a great mid-size sedan, that makes the perfect daily driver, thanks to the comfort, low fuel consumption, and low maintenance that it offers. It does not, however, provide the most exciting driving experience, as drivers also suggest, as the emphasis here is not on performance. But that being the only negative, we can safely say that the Camry model is a good choice, that the majority of owners are quite satisfied with.
The name "Camry" means "crown", following the tradition of Toyota giving different synonyms and variations of the word "crown" as names for their models: Toyota Crown, Toyota Corona (Latin for "crown"), Toyota Corolla (Latin for "small crown"), Toyota Tiara, etc.
Toyota Camry's positioning highly depends on the market. On some markets such as Asia (outside of Japan), where "Prestige" versions of the model has been introduces, or Latin America the Camry is perceived as a luxury vehicle, while on the Western markets it is seen as a more of a mainstream car.
Station wagon body-styled versions of Toyota Camry were only available until 1996. They were dropped from the model range due to decreased customer demand and sales, as minivans and crossover SUVs were becoming the more popular choice.
Toyota Camry has been in production since 1982 and has been gradually growing in size throughout the years. It started out as a compact vehicle, eventually reching a size big enough to be classified as a mid-size car. It does not, however, fit the full-size car classification.
Toyota Camry is an extremely durable vehicle that can last quite a long time. However, how long exactly highly depends on how the vehicle has been maintained. According to owners, a Camry should be able to run for at least 250 000 km, but the average number is generally much higher than that. With proper and timely maintenance, some vehicles have been in use for up to 800 000 km.
