Just months before its official début at GIMS 2019, Skoda's new crossover gets a name. Strangely enough, it has already been used before. Back in 2018, the Czech automaker released on the Chinese car market a compact SUV, called Kamiq. And now, it seems that Europe will get its own Kamiq.
Perhaps worried it might cause some type of commotion, Skoda promises that the only think in common between the two cars will be the name. Everything else will be completely different and based on the consumers' preferences and needs. The European Kamiq will directly position itself right under the Karoq. It is quite possible, that for Kamiq, Skoda will use MQB platform as well as components, similar to those in VW T-Roc and Seat Arona.

Although a specific engine range is not yet announced - there will probably be different petrol and diesel options to choose from. There is still a lot of mystery around the design and technical details. Perhaps additional information will be released the days before the première. For now, Skoda has only released a teaser image of Kamiq's massive silhouette and LED headlights.
