More than 80 of the most famous Porsche's vehicles in one place can be seen in museums halls. In addition, numerous smaller exhibitions reveal the history and the spirit of the iconic brand.
The lobby offers a spectacular view of the spacious exhibition area, where the impressive collection is positioned. From this place every visitor has the option to start with either History of the Company, or with the Main Exhibition Area. Both zones are connected via "Porsche Idea" section, which forms the backbone of the museum.
The "Porsche Idea" reveals the spirit of the famous brand. It displays the passion that motivates Porsche's and pays attention not only the company itself but as well as at the people standing behind each product.
The museum is also a high-technology place and implements the interactive tour and features. One of them is the interactive "Porsche Touchwall", that allows the visitors to browse through over 3000 images, drawings, posters and advertisements originating from 1931 to the present day. Every day the basis of the touch wall is updated with an extensive selection of images and technical data for almost all of Porsche's vehicles.
Another innovative highlight is the "Porsche in the Mix" sound installation. It gives the opportunity to hear the characteristic sounds of the most popular vehicles of the brand like 356, 911 or 918.
The main exhibition represents the main moments in Porsche history through the years, divided into different categories:
The prologue
Here is the place, where is revealed the begging of Porshe. From the first construction of Ferdinand Porsche - the 1898 "Egger-Lohner electric vehicle, C-2 Phaeton model" to the start-up of his own automotive manufacturing in 1948. This zone can also be called "Porsche before 1948" and it shows the main activities of Ferdinand Porsche leading to the model known simply as "Number 1".
The "Light" idea
Here is revealed one of the core competences of Porsche - lightweight constructions. Bearing in mind that power-to-weight ratio is one the most important factors concerning sport and race cars, Porsche succeeds to achieve a breakthrough with their 356 America Roadster - the lightest Porsche of its time. This is the place where can be found an exhibition of all Porsche racing cars in chronological order.
The "Clever" idea
Since 1971 the famous carmaker develops and optimizes numerous technical decisions in their Research and Development Centre. The aim of all hard work of Porsche's engineers is to upgrade the technical details, keeping the tradition of first brand's models. Illustration of this is the Porsche 356 B 2000 GS Carrera GT from 1960.
The "Fast" idea
Ferry Porsche starts this company, aiming to produce cars that are controllable, fast and aerodynamic at the same time. The key model in this section is Porsche 956, placed just above visitors' heads.
The "Powerful" idea
The high speeds come hand-in-hand with high power. The high-performance engines of Porsche and their design has an unprecedented success since the early 1970-s. Impressive presentation of the "Powerful" idea is a flat-twelve engine stripped down to its component parts.
The "Passionate" idea
The success in the race cars' industry is measured with trophies. Each of them has its own story - a special Porsche's story. The hard work of all inventive engineers, gifted mechanics and superior driver leads to this so-called "Hall of Fame". The section shows over 70 years in motorsport with more than 30 000 victories.
The "Consistent" idea
This part of the main exhibition reveals the most characteristic features of a Porsche. The consistent design lineage of the 911 illustrates how its distinctive identity is kept across every generation and model year back to 1964. The "Consistent" idea is now a philosophy laying in the heart of every Porsche car.
Porsche Engineering
The trip in Porsche's history takes the visitors to the part standing for the specific and unique Porsche Engineering. The begging of the Engineering office founded by Ferdinand Porsche is the far 1931. Since then the brand provides a huge range of technical engineering services to third parties. In this section, visitors can see various unusual creations that few people will relate to Porsche at first sight.
The Porsche Museum is not a traditional exhibition place. It offers a variety of modern and unusual actives for visitors of all ages. For students from 6 to 18 years old, the museum offers thematic interactive guided tours, giving the basic knowledge of the brand, its history and achievements. For car-fancy kids, there is an option for a unique birthday party in a place with more than 23 000 horsepowers. For the adults, an interesting place will be the dedicated museum workshop, where Porsche's team of mechanics and craftsmen prepare all classic vehicles for appearances worldwide in the open door in front of the visitors. The museum also offers a shop, a coffee bar and a restaurant. As a whole, we can recommend the Porsche museum as a perfect place to spend a day with your family, or with a group of friend car-enthusiasts.
