Even though the Mitsubishi ASX is often being found on the bottom of reliability rankings, according to owners, it is actually an overall well-built and durable vehicle. It has more interior space than one might think looking at it on the outside, drives well even on bad roads, and offers some reasonable acceleration, easily overtaking other cars.
Despite the model having a bad reputation for reliability, many owners are actually quite satisfied with their vehicles in this regard, stating they have experienced no issues. Some complaints that other drivers had, however, include a premature brake caliper fault, DPF and gearbox problems, rust, and high service costs.
Mitsubishi ASX ("Active Sports Crossover") is the nameplate which the third generation of Mitsubishi RVR was sold under on most markets. Same generation of the same model, however, was available as the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport in the United States, Argentina, Indonesia and Brazil, with the RVR nameplate only being used in Japan, South Korea, and Canada.

On some markets, in Malaysia for example, first facelift variants come with a panoramic glass roof as standard.
In 2019 a third facelift of the Mitsubishi ASX was introduced. Together with the updated vehicle design elements, connectivity was improved as well, as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration was made available as an option for the model.
