One reason is the model’s high quality – both in terms of built quality and performance. In addition, the G-Class represents exclusivity and a certain status, which further increases its value.
An electric version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class with dual electric motors and 108 kWH battery packs is announced to go into production in 2024. It will have the signature design characteristics of the model, while still being distinguishable through the details.
The powerful V8 engine, that the Mercedes-Benz G 500 is equipped with, does not ensure great fuel efficiency, as one would expect. Fuel consumption figures are between 14.07 l/ 100 km (16 mpg) and 16.7 l/ 100 km (14.08 mpg).
A big part of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class range, especially after 2008 model year, consists of some impressively performing vehicles, that offer considerable power. The fastest among them are the AMG variants, which, depending on the particular modification, can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds (0 – 60 mph: 4.3 sec).
Several engine size options are available for the Mercedes-Benz G-Class:

- 5.4 l (5439 cm3 | 331.91 cu. in.) 8-cylinder engine, producing 354 Hp, 476 Hp, 500 Hp, or 507 Hp;
- 5.5 l (5461 cm3 | 333.25 cu. In ) 8-cylinder engine, producing 544 Hp, 563 Hp, or 571 Hp;
- 6.0 l (5980 cm3 | 364.92 cu. in.) 12-cylinder engine, producing 612 Hp, 621 Hp, or 630 Hp.
Mercedes-Benz G-Class long-wheelbase versions measure between 4680 mm (184.25 in.) and 4764 mm (187.56 in.) in length, 1760 mm (69.29 in.) and 2100 mm (82.68 in.) in width, and 1931 mm (76.02 in.) and 2235 mm (87.99 in.) in height, depending on the modification.
