Fuel consumption is relatively low, especially that of variants, equipped with a 1.5 or 2.0 SkyActiv-G engine. Their economy figures are between 6 l/ 100 km (39.2 mpg) and 6.9 l/ 100 km (34.09 mpg).
Mazda MX-5 RF variants, powered by a 1.5 SkyActiv-G, produce 131 Hp and 150 Nm of torque, while those, equipped with a 2.0 SkyActiv-G have two output options - 160 Hp, 200 Nm of torque and 181 Hp, 205 Nm of torque.
2.0 SkyActiv-G (181 Hp) variants are the best performing in the Mazda MX-5 range in terms of speed and acceleration. They go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds (0-60 mph: 6.2 sec) and reach a top speed of 220 km/h (136.7 mph).
4- and 6-speed automatic options are available in the Mazda MX-5 range. Most variants, however, are equipped with manual transmissions, which are often the preferred choice.
Mazda MX-5 has been known for its great reliability and build quality. Owners praise it for not only being well-performing and fun to drive, but also for not having any unexpected issues, that need expensive repair. The only problem, that can appear in first and second generation vehicles, is rust in the sills, if drain holes are not kept clean.
