Four engine size options are offered for the 2013 model year Land Rover Range Rover Sport: 2 diesel ones - 3.0- (2993 cm3 | 182.64 cu. in.) V6 and 4.4-liter (4367 cm3 | 266.49 cu. in.) V8 engines and 2 petrol ones - 3.0- (2995 cm3 | 182.77 cu. in.) V6 and 5.0-liter (5000 cm3 | 305.12 cu. in.) V8 engines.
Land Rover Range Rover Sport, powered by 3.0-liter diesel engine, is available with several output options. Those are:
- 211 Hp and 520 Nm, 245 Hp and 600 Nm, and 256 Hp and 600 Nm in the facelifted first generation range;
- 258 Hp and 600 Nm, 292 Hp and 600 Nm in the second generation range (pre-facelift);
- 249 Hp and 600 Nm, 301 Hp and 650 Nm, 306 Hp and 700 Nm, and 351 Hp and 700 Nm in the facelifted second generation range.
While a fully-electric Land Rover Range Rover Sport is not available, one plug-in hybrid alternative, combining 300 Hp (221kW) 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with a 116 Hp (85kW) electric motor, and several options, featuring mild hybrid technology to boost the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, are being offered in the 2017 model year range.
The electric-only range of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport Plug-in Hybrid is 51 km (31 miles).
The large and powerful Land Rover Range Rover Sport is definitely not a fuel efficient vehicle. Consumption of internal combustion engine only variants averages 11.3 l/100 km (20.82 mpg). The mild hybrid technology, featured in some 2017 model year variants, slightly lowers the average fuel economy figures to 8.3 l/100 km (28.34 mpg). The 2017 model year range also offers a plug-in hybrid option, where fuel consumption goes down substantially to 2.8 l/100 km (84.01 mpg).
Ground clearance of Land Rover Range Rover Sport is 173 mm (6.8 in.), 226 mm (8.9 in.), 264 mm (10.4 in.), or 277 mm (10.9 in.), depending on the modification, with first generation variants generally being the lower ones in the range.
SVR in the Rover Range Rover Sport SVR nameplate stands for Special Vehicle Racing, which marks that it is a high performance version of the model.
