2021 Ford S-MAX is a full-hybrid vehicle, that does not have the ability to be charged from an external electricity source. It is being charged by the vehicle’s system itself, through regenerative braking technology, that captures up to 90% of the energy normally lost during braking and then helps charge the battery. Pure-electric driving is possible, but for only short distances.
The 2021 Ford S-MAX is powered by a 2.5-liter petrol engine, combined with hybrid technology, and produces 190 Hp and 200 Nm of torque.
The most fuel efficient Ford S-MAX vehicles are the 2.0 TDCi (120/ 150/ 180 Hp) and 2.0 EcoBlue (150/ 190 Hp) variants, with consumption of 5 l/ 100 km (47.04 mpg).
In its first generation, Ford S-MAX offers only 7-seat vehicles. 5-seat options were added afterwards.
Ford S-MAX is a well-built quality vehicle, with very few reliability issues, reported by owners. The most common problems experienced are electrical ones, that can affect different parts of the car’s system.
