The production of 535 model started in 1982 with an E28 platform, starting with a range of three different engines. The 535 was discontinued in 2017. This makes a total of 35 years of the car being in production.
Up to the present moment there’s seven generations of BMW 5-series. They include the whole range of models with numerous modifications on each model’s engine. Through the years, the 535i engine changes, so does its power output. In the beginning, in the E28 generation -from 1985 to 1987, three versions of 535i are known. The engine’s power is respectively 185,192 or 218 hp. Within the E34 gen, between 1988 and 1995 the 535i has power of 211hp. The next edition of the famous engine is in the E39 generation – there is two modification of the engine in the period 1996 – 2000. First one is in production fro 1996 to 1998 and produces 235hp, while the second one (1998 – 2000) offers 245hp. Next appearance of 535i is in F07. F10 and F11 range. For the period 2010 – 2017 the engine of 535i is the same and generatees 306hp.
