Audi S8 is by no means a small vehicle; it is a large luxury sedan, measuring 5034 mm (198.19 in.) - 5179 mm (203.9 in.) in length, 1880 mm (74.02 in.) - 1949 mm (76.73 in.) in width, and 1420 mm (55.91 in.) - 1474 mm (58.03 in.) in height.
Despite featuring mild hybrid technology, the 2020 model year Audi S8 is not necessarily the most fuel efficient in the range. Its consumption is 11.3-11.4 l/100 km (20.82-20.63 mpg), with the lowest actually being that of 4.0 TFSI COD V8 (520 Hp) variants - 9.6 l/100 km (24.5 mpg).
Initially, in its first and second generation, Audi S8 was powered by naturally aspirated petrol engines. This was changed for the 2012 model year and the model has been equipped with turbocharged engines since.
The whole Audi S8 range consists of top-performing in terms of speed and power vehicles. The one that stands out as the fastest, however, is the 4.0 TFSI COD V8 Plus variant, going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds (0 - 60 mph in 3.6 seconds) and reaching a maximum speed of 305 km/h (189.52 mph).
The powerful 4.0-liter V8 turbocharged petrol engine, that the Audi S8 Plus is equipped with, delivers 605 Hp and 750 Nm of torque.
Despite its considerable power and driving performance, the Audi S8 is not considered a supercar.
For its class, the Audi S8 has achieved good reliability ratings. But to deliver this level of performance and luxury, it needs to be and is a complex vehicle in terms of engineering, and is therefore prone to issues. And when something goes wrong, one can almost certainly expect the repair to be expensive. According to drivers, however, it’s still worth it to own an Audi S8 and the car is actually good value for money.
