A Sportback version of Audi Q3 was introduced in 2019. Along with other differences in design, It is also different in size than the standard model, being longer and lower, to achieve sportier looks and performance. Its dimensions are 5000 mm (196.85 in.) in length, 1843 mm (72.56 in.) in width, and 1567 mm (61.69 in.) in height.
So far, no fully-electric Audi Q3 has been added to the model range. For those looking for more electrified options, however, mild and plug-in hybrids are available in the second generation and Sportback ranges.
In terms of acceleration, there are a few Audi Q3 variants, that perform quite well – RS and Sportback 45 TFSI (245 Hp) variants. The rest of the range goes from 0 to 100 km/h in an average of about 8-9 seconds, which is not too impressive. In terms of top speed, Audi Q3, with very few exceptions in the first generation, can reach over 200 km/h.
Audi Q3 2.0 TDI variants are among the most fuel efficient in the model range, with consumption figures being between 4.2 l/100 km (56 mpg) and 5.9 l/100 km (39.87 mpg). The only Audi Q3 variants, that achieve better fuel economy, are the plug-in hybrid options.
Several engine options are available in the Audi Q3 Sportback range:
- 1.4 l (1395 cm3 | 85.13 cu. in.) 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, combined with plug-in hybrid technology, producing 245 Hp;
- 1.5 l (1498 cm3 | 91.41 cu. in.) 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 150 Hp;

Non-hybrid Audi Q3 45 TFSI variants are equipped with a 2.0 l (1984 cm3 | 121.07 cu. in.) 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 230 Hp and 245 Hp as output options. In the alternative Audi Q3 45 TFSI e, the hybrid technology works in combination with a 1.4 l (1395 cm3 | 85.13 cu. in.) 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, producing 245 Hp.
A digital instrument cluster, is fitted in second generation and Sportback variants, even at the base level of equipment of Audi Q3. It measures 10.25 inches and is operated via the multifunction steering wheel.
Maintenance cost of Audi Q3 would highly depend on the geographical location and other factors. It is expected, however, that the cost of owning and maintaining a luxury brand vehicle, such as Audi, is higher that the average.
Owners’ reviews of Audi Q3 are mixed. Some find its on-road performance, comfort, and reliability excellent, having experienced no problems with the vehicle. Others find the Audi Q3 too small for an SUV, the standard technology and equipment – insufficient, and the brakes, electrics, and transmission – prone to constant issues.
Despite sometimes being marketed as a family car, Audi Q3 seems to be too small for some family needs, with rear-seat space and boot space being insufficient for fitting a child seat and luggage for longer trips, according to owners.
The Audi Q3 quattro editions are equipped with a Haldex system that primarily drives the front wheels, and only if they lose traction, a multi-plate clutch delivers more torque to the rear wheels. This means better fuel economy in everyday driving compared to permanent all-wheel-drive cars and better traction on slippery roads than pure front-wheel-drive ones.
