Safety has been at the core of Volvo since the very beginning in 1927. So it's been natural for the carmaker to assign the safety as a benchmark. As a result, the latest fully electric car of the company - XC 40, will be one of the safest cars in Volvo's line-up.
Built as an electric car, Volvo XC40 Recharge must be even safer. Thanks to the electrification, the combustion engine is removed. This causes the redesign of the front structure of the car. The battery in the fully electric XC40 is integrated into the floor structure of the car. To protect the battery and to keep all occupants safe, Volvo reworked the car inside and out.

The most important part of any fully-electric vehicle is the battery. XC40 is equipped with one that offers 78 kilowatt-hours of energy capacity, 408 horsepowers and provides the impressive 660 Newton metres of torque and acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.9 seconds. While the combustion engine is normally positioned in the front, the Recharge model is an all-wheel-drive vehicle with twin motors. Volvo says the range should be around 320 km. in real-world usage. The manufacturer has tested the safety of the pack in all sorts of impact situations to make sure that the cells were protected as much as possible. The battery position allows generous foot room for the occupants. The XC40 Recharge offers spacious storage areas and trunk compared to the internal-combustion variant.

The virtual world with the flexibility of simulation has allowed the famous carmaker to realize that the safety performance is the core of the success to any vehicle. That has led to limited speed for safer drive experience.
Volvo has already presented its first fully electric XC 40. It is the first model to feature the newest infotainment technology powered by Android. An open-source operating system offers more apps and services for a better experience. Google assistant allows the drivers to control in-car functions by voice. The XC 40 Recharge is also connected to the Internet and comes with Google Maps and the Google Play Store built-in. In this way, everyone can easily download their favourite apps.
